About us

The Kalevan Rasti (KR) is an international orienteering club based in Joensuu, North Karelia, Finland. The club was founded in 1950 and is known for its high-quality orienteering training, attracting athletes from around the world to develop towards the international elite level. In the 2023 season, athletes from the club's training group represented their country in six different national teams.

Kalevan Rasti is renowned for its extensive production of orienteering maps. Pentti Hassinen began producing maps in the 1970s, and his legacy has been admirably continued within the club. In recent years, the production of maps has been overseen by individuals such as Börje Vartiainen and Jussi Silvennoinen.

The club is also well-known for its recreational orienteering activities. Kalevan Rasti was a pioneer in the commercialization of recreational orienteering in the 1970s, and the predominantly pine-covered local terrain in Joensuu is perfectly suited for recreational orienteering.
